hubba Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 (edited) Evening all. I have a mk`1 galaxy 2l ghia. p 1996. The car would not start. the engine would turn over but not fire. The emergncy services came out ""rainbow flag"" and said that there was lots of faults with it (after pluging in the Snap on Machine). main one being immob' and theres nothing he could do but take me to a garage. so now its left on drive way. The night before 6pm my son went to the boot of the car to get some bits, came in and said it was locked. I go to the car at 5am and could not start it. after looking like a tit it seems that the chip is missing from the only key i have for the car. can any one help me? the central locking has never worked . the passenger front chair well has remains of the black box and a relay. The fuel cut of switch is fine. just want the car to go. relay30 and 167 seem ok. the immob light flashes quick when trying to start. I am not worried about the central locking. gregers Posted October 8, 2010 Report Posted October 8, 2010 if no chip then the car will not start, has the key been dropped recently or had the batteries been changed,if so then i susspect the chip has fallen out without you realising, unless a mobile lock smith can help then it might be a trip to the dealers to get sorted, which im afraid is going to cost you a large wedge of dosh. hubba Posted October 9, 2010 Author Report Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) Thank you. Think the key must of fell apart when son went to car. Is there any way of by passing the immobiliser. I am aware that the insurance companies will not insure the car for theift. But the car is usfull for us but u have to draw the line somewhere on spending on her. I would say go out and buy another car, but in times of hardship etc. I've technically no car now so no car in months or years is no different! If any one can help please advise. (i can understand if people don't want to let every body know how to do this, but please private message me) Edited October 9, 2010 by hubba Quote

seatkid Posted October 9, 2010 Report Posted October 9, 2010 (edited) Someone on forum said it was possible. However personally I would have though it impossible. The manufacturers go to great length to make the immobiliser 100% secure. Go and find that chip (its small - see pictures below). Interrogate the child and retrace his footsteps (avoid violence :D) PATS chip PATS in key Search the forum , dealers will cost £160+ IIRC, but someone used a locksmith for about £45 IIRC . Search..... Edited October 9, 2010 by seatkid Quote
